Bronx Convenience Store Shooting: Mother Used as Human Shield
A terrifying incident unfolded in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx when two masked gunmen opened fire inside a convenience store, injuring six people, including a mother and her 12-year-old daughter.
Police say the gunmen targeted a group of young men, one of whom used the mother as a human shield during the shooting. The mother was shot in the stomach, and her daughter was struck in the leg. Four other men, aged 18-21, sustained gunshot wounds to their arms and legs. All six victims are expected to survive.
The incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. at 3544 White Plains Road. Witnesses reported hearing 10-15 shots fired, creating chaos and fear in the crowded area. The suspects, described as two males – one in a black Nike sweatshirt and the other in a grey hoodie – fled north on White Plains Road.
NYPD Interim Chief of Department John Chell described the shooting as a "brazen and heartless attack." He urged anyone with information to contact the authorities at 1-800-577-TIPS.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to determine if any of the other victims were also intended targets.
This incident has left the community shaken, with residents expressing concerns about their safety and the increasing violence in the area.
