West Village's Piccolo Angolo to Close its Doors

A Family Legacy Ends

Owned and operated by the Migliorini family, Piccolo Angolo was initially established by Renato Migliorini, whose children, Peter and Maria, continued his legacy after his passing. Peter, who started working in the kitchen at age 19, has spent over three decades perfecting his father's family recipes from Liguria.

Maria, who managed the front of house, shared her heartfelt emotions about the closure: "It's the circle of life. My dad opened this place in 1992...We're going to go out with a big bang... see if everyone is around and can stop in and see us and then I'm really going to cry."

A Community Staple

The restaurant, known for its warm atmosphere and delicious Italian cuisine, has served as a beloved gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. Its 44 seats always seemed to be full, testament to its popularity and family-like atmosphere. Eyewitness News reporter Lauren Glassberg even mentioned her family's long-time patronage.

The Future

While the closure marks the end of an era for Piccolo Angolo, the Migliorini siblings plan to pursue future culinary ventures. They express gratitude for the years of support from the community and the cherished memories made within the restaurant's walls.

Farewell, Piccolo Angolo

The last day to experience Piccolo Angolo's authentic Italian cuisine will be New Year's Eve. The restaurant's closure serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges facing small businesses in NYC, highlighting the impact of rising costs on long-standing community establishments.
