NYC's Magical Holiday Train Shows: 2024 Edition
This holiday season, New York City offers enchanting train shows for all ages. From miniature landmarks to nostalgic rides, there's something for everyone!
1. New York Botanical Garden's Holiday Train Show
Celebrating its 33rd year, this show features over 200 iconic NYC landmarks in miniature, including the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. This year, the Hearst Tower is a new addition! Extended evening hours allow visitors to enjoy the show under the lights. Tickets are $25-$35.
Dates:
- December 7, 13, 14 (Adults 21+ only, 7-10 PM)
- January 4, 11, 18 (Adults 21+ only, 7-10 PM)
- December 20-23, 26-28 (All ages, 6-9 PM)
2. Grand Central Holiday Train Show
The New York Transit Museum presents its free annual show at Grand Central Terminal, celebrating its 20th anniversary! This exhibit features miniature NYC landmarks and the museum's model train collection, including the Polar Express.
Location: New York Transit Museum Gallery & Store Dates: Now until February 2025 Hours:
- Monday-Friday: 10 AM - 7 PM
- Saturday-Sunday: 10 AM - 6 PM *(Closed on major holidays)
3. MTA's Holiday Nostalgia Rides
Experience a trip back in time aboard vintage R1/9 train cars from the 1930s! These rides run along the F and Q lines, offering a unique holiday experience.
Dates: Every Sunday in December, 10 AM - 5 PM
4. Paley Center for Media's Paley Express
The Paley Center for Media hosts the "Paley Express," a magical holiday train display, along with five floors of holiday cheer and free hot cocoa!
Dates: Now until January 5, 2025
