Over the weekend, Miriam, a well-loved Israeli restaurant in Brooklyn's Park Slope, was the target of a vicious attack. Vandals sprayed red paint and anti-Israel graffiti, including the phrase "Genocide Cuisine", across the restaurant's facade and windows.

Security footage shows three individuals carrying out the attack in the early hours of Sunday morning. The NYPD is currently investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made yet.

Community Outpouring of Support

The attack has sparked an outpouring of support from the community and beyond. Owner and chef Rafi Hasid has been inundated with calls offering assistance from customers, local officials, and the Israeli consulate. This isn't Miriam's first brush with anti-Semitic vandalism; a similar incident occurred two years ago.

Despite the attack, Miriam remains open for business. The restaurant, known for its delicious Israeli comfort food like schnitzel and shakshuka, has been a Park Slope staple for 20 years, earning praise from publications like Eater magazine.

A Pattern of Anti-Semitic Attacks?

This incident follows a pattern of anti-Semitic attacks against Israeli businesses in the US. A previous incident saw protesters vandalizing another Israeli restaurant in New York City and a wider call for a boycott of Israeli restaurants across North America.

The Park Slope community is rallying around Miriam, demonstrating the resilience of the local community in the face of hate crimes.
