Antisemitic Attack on Brooklyn Restaurant Sparks Outrage

On Sunday, Miriam, a beloved Israeli restaurant in Park Slope, Brooklyn, was vandalized with antisemitic graffiti. Vandals spray-painted hateful messages on the restaurant's exterior around 3 a.m. Red paint was also thrown at the windows.

The Aftermath

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made. The restaurant's owner, Rafael Hasid, expressed sadness and frustration at the senseless act of vandalism. He stated, "It makes me sad, that people, instead of if they have a different opinion than mine, instead of coming and talking about it, they vandalize my restaurant."

Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul both condemned the attack. Mayor Adams declared that the NYPD will find those responsible, while Governor Hochul stated that the attack on Miriam is an attack on all New Yorkers.

Miriam's Response

In an Instagram post, Miriam restaurant stated: "Miriam stands for inclusivity and unity and bringing people together through the shared love of delicious food and warm hospitality." They vowed not to let the hate deter them.
