NYC Restaurant Scene: What's Hot & What's Not
This week in NYC's ever-changing culinary landscape brings exciting openings and sad closings. Let's dive in!
Bradley Cooper's East Village Cheesesteak Venture
Bradley Cooper, the acclaimed actor, has partnered with Philadelphia restaurateur Danny DiGiampietro to open Danny & Coop’s, a Philly cheesesteak shop in the East Village. The initial opening saw massive lines with Cooper himself making appearances. The menu was reportedly limited to just their foot-long cheesesteaks featuring Cooper sharp cheese and onions.
The restaurant is expected to fully open in 2025. This follows their collaboration last year, hinting at this exciting venture.
Danji's Triumphant Return
After a fire in April 2023, acclaimed Michelin-starred Korean restaurant Danji has reopened its doors in Midtown. Chef Hooni Kim overcame significant repair delays to bring back this celebrated establishment, the city's first Michelin-starred Korean fine-dining restaurant (since 2012).
Hakata TonTon Bids Farewell
Unfortunately, not all news is good. Beloved tonsoku restaurant Hakata TonTon has announced its closure on December 29th. The restaurant, which reopened in 2021 after a pandemic pause, expressed gratitude to its patrons in a heartfelt statement on Instagram.
