Bronx Standoff Ends in Suicide
A man wanted for the murder of his girlfriend, 31-year-old first-grade teacher Jessica Hoyle, died by suicide during a police standoff in the Bronx on Thursday.
Police responded to an apartment on Pratt Ave. near Conner St. in Baychester around 2:20 p.m., where they found the 35-year-old suspect barricaded inside with an acquaintance. After hours of negotiations, the suspect shot himself. He was taken to a hospital, but his condition wasn't immediately released.
The Murder of Jessica Hoyle
Hoyle was found dead in her home on Mickle Ave. near Boston Road on Tuesday night, having suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Her mother, who lives downstairs, heard the gunshot and called 911, but was unable to reach her daughter in time.

Hoyle was a teacher at Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School in Crotona.
