On Christmas Day, a taxi driver in Midtown Manhattan experienced a possible medical episode, causing his taxi to jump the curb at 34th Street and Avenue of the Americas. The incident resulted in multiple pedestrians being injured.
Six pedestrians were struck, with injuries ranging in severity. A 9-year-old boy and a 41-year-old woman were transported to Cornell Hospital, while a 49-year-old woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital. Three other women (ages 19, 37, and 49) refused medical attention at the scene.
Thankfully, police reported that none of the injuries were life-threatening. The 58-year-old taxi driver was also involved in the incident.
