Christmas Day Taxi Crash near Macy's
A yellow taxi jumped the curb and crashed into pedestrians near Macy's Herald Square in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon. At approximately 4:03 p.m., the 58-year-old taxi driver, traveling north on Sixth Ave. near W. 34th St., lost control and veered onto the sidewalk.
Six people were injured, including a 9-year-old boy, two 49-year-old women, and three other women aged 19, 37, and 41. One 41-year-old woman sustained a head injury and was taken to Bellevue Hospital. The taxi driver was also injured, receiving treatment at Weill Cornell Medical Center for a leg laceration.
Both the injured pedestrians and the driver are reported to be in stable condition.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
