A knife was recovered at the scene.
A Manhattan judge set bail at $150,000. Sargeant's next court appearance is scheduled for December 30th.
This incident follows another recent subway attack where a woman was tragically burned alive, leading to criticism of Governor Kathy Hochul's statements regarding subway safety. Despite these incidents, Hochul recently deployed 750 National Guard members to enhance holiday security in the subways.
