On Christmas Eve, a terrifying incident unfolded at Grand Central Terminal. A man, identified as 28-year-old Jason Sargeant, allegedly launched an unprovoked slashing attack on two individuals.
The Attack
The attack began around 10:15 p.m. on a northbound 5 train. Sargeant reportedly activated the emergency brake, stopping the train at Grand Central. He then randomly attacked a 42-year-old man, slashing his left wrist. He proceeded to the mezzanine level and attempted to stab a 26-year-old woman in the neck, causing a cut despite missing his target.
Both victims were transported to a hospital and are expected to recover. Police apprehended Sargeant at Grand Central Terminal, finding a knife in his possession. He now faces charges including assault, reckless endangerment, menacing, and weapon possession.
