Grand Central Terminal Attack: A Christmas Eve Nightmare

On Christmas Eve, a shocking incident unfolded at Grand Central Terminal. Imani-Ciara Pizarro, 26, was brutally stabbed in the throat by a man identified as Jason Sargeant, 28, after being sucker-punched from behind. The horrifying attack left Pizarro bleeding and shocked by the inaction of bystanders.

Pizarro's account: She described how Sargeant, after yelling at her, suddenly attacked with a knife, severing her throat. Disturbingly, she claims that numerous bystanders simply froze and did nothing to help. Even worse, she ran to find nearby police officers, but none were present.

The aftermath: Pizarro's neighbor called 911, and she sought help at the nearby Roosevelt Hotel, which currently serves as a migrant shelter. Sargeant was quickly apprehended by MTA police, with witnesses guiding the authorities to him.

Another victim: A 42-year-old man was also slashed in the wrist by Sargeant in a separate attack that same evening, sustaining what Pizarro described as more severe injuries. Sargeant, who has three previous arrests involving criminal mischief, fare evasion and assaulting a police officer, was charged with multiple felonies.

Pizarro's plea: Pizarro expresses her frustration and fear, feeling unsafe using public transport, despite needing to get to her job. The incident raises serious concerns about public safety, bystander intervention and the frequency of seemingly random attacks within the city. The incident happened near Grand Central's central ticket booth, leading to questions about the location of officers in a usually high-security area.

This is the second Christmas in a row featuring a stabbing at Grand Central. Last year, two teenage girls were stabbed at a nearby establishment.
