The attack occurred around 7:30 a.m. near the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station. The suspect, described as a 25-30 year old man, approached the sleeping woman and set her ablaze with what's believed to be a lighter. Her clothes ignited instantly.
Apprehension
The suspect remained at the scene and was later apprehended on another train at Herald Square. He was identified with the help of security footage and observant citizens, including three high school students who called 911. He was found with a lighter in his possession.
NYPD Investigation
