NYC Food Scene: Exciting Updates!

Muji Opens its First US Food Market

Get ready, NYC foodies! Japanese retailer Muji has opened its first-ever food market in the US, located within its Chelsea Market location. Expect delicious onigiri, tamago egg sandwiches, curry bowls, dorayaki, pastries, and more! They've even got a robot barista, Jarvis, whipping up specialty drinks like a black sesame latte. While Jarvis faced some criticism upon his initial launch, the new market has already taken TikTok by storm!

Muji Food Market is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New Wine Bar Alert: Babysips Coming Soon!

Cosme alums David Wilson and Zoe Clifton are teaming up to open Babysips, a "working-class wine bar" on the Lower East Side (176 Rivington Street) this spring. Their menu will feature dishes inspired by Spain and Brazil, with a focus on local ingredients.

Top Chef Winner Buddha Lo Relocates HŪSO

After a fire forced the closure of HŪSO (located inside Marky’s Caviar on the Upper East Side), Top Chef season 19 winner Buddha Lo is bringing his acclaimed restaurant to Tribeca. The new location, inside Marky's Caviar's new retail shop at 323A Greenwich Street, is slated to open in February.

Fundraising Events for LA

Several NYC events are raising funds for Los Angeles recovery efforts:

  • January 25, 10 a.m.: A bake sale at Greenpoint cookbook store Archestratus.
  • January 24, noon – 1 a.m.: A one-day event at Scarr’s Pizza on the Lower East Side, featuring LA Italian deli Ggiata’s menu and a special collaborative pizza. 100% of proceeds go to the ARC Firefighter Fund.
