NYC Chef Fundraises for LA Wildfire Victims with Special Dinner

New York City chef Magdalena O'Neal is hosting a four-course dinner on January 19th at Casetta in the Lower East Side to raise money for victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. All proceeds will go directly to families affected, particularly those in Altadena, where a disproportionately high number of Black homeowners were impacted.

A Taste of California, a Heart for Helping

O'Neal, who has deep California roots, will prepare dishes inspired by her home state, including cioppino, a San Francisco seafood stew, and a collard green salad. This event isn't just about delicious food; it's about community and support.

Why this matters: The fires in Altadena caused significant generational and cultural loss for many Black and brown families, extending beyond material damage. O'Neal emphasizes the importance of monetary donations to help families rebuild their lives.

How to Help

Tickets for the dinner are $75 (plus tax) and can be purchased via Resy. If you can't attend, other fundraising events are happening in NYC. For instance, a 5k run with a bake sale featuring over 25 NYC chefs is happening on January 18th. Another event will be at Rosso on January 20th.
