Home Alone 2's NYC Townhouse: A $5.7 Million Surprise!
A recent report revealed that the Upper West Side townhouse featured in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is valued at a whopping $5.7 million! This makes it one of the most expensive homes ever featured in a Christmas movie, even surpassing the McCallister's Illinois mansion.
The analysis by FloridaRentals ranked the NYC brownstone at number 4, behind the homes in The Family Man, The Holiday, and Bridget Jones's Diary. Other Christmas movie homes included in the ranking were those from Trading Places, The Family Stone, Four Christmases, The Santa Clause, and Happiest Season.
Interestingly, the actual filming location for the townhouse scene wasn't the Upper West Side at all. The movie used a set on the Universal Studios lot in Los Angeles.
The real-life brownstone, a landmarked Renaissance Revival building, recently sold for $5.7 million. This beautiful home, built in the 19th century, had originally been listed for over $7.5 million in 2023.
The study also highlights the least expensive Christmas movie home, the Parker's house from A Christmas Story, valued at just $246,915.
This shows a huge price difference between modest and extravagant homes in popular holiday films.
