Justine Huang, 26, recently completed the 2024 NYC Marathon with a surprising twist—she did it while under the influence! In a viral TikTok video, Huang revealed she consumed "four or five shots of liquor" and "four or five half cups of beer" during the 26.2-mile race.

A Different Kind of Marathon Strategy

Huang explained that after running the Chicago Marathon three weeks prior, she opted for a more relaxed approach to the NYC race. Instead of focusing solely on speed, she prioritized enjoying the experience, interacting with spectators, and indulging in the abundant food and drinks offered along the course. This unconventional strategy resulted in a 5-hour and 36-minute finish time—slower than her Chicago time, but with a significantly different vibe.

Hydration and the Importance of Pacing

Despite the alcohol consumption, Huang emphasized that she meticulously maintained hydration, stopping at every water station to drink plenty of water and Gatorade. She also spaced out her alcohol intake over several hours, preventing a rapid and intense intoxication.

No Regrets, Just Good Times!

Huang expressed zero regret about her boozy marathon experience. She described the experience as far more enjoyable than her previous, more competitive races. The opportunity to socialize with friends and fellow runners, along with the relaxed atmosphere, made it a truly memorable event.

The 2024 NYC Marathon drew a record 55,646 finishers from around the globe, making it the world's largest marathon.
