NYC Tesla Vandalism: A Rising Wave of Hate Crimes?
The NYPD is investigating a string of Tesla vandalism incidents in NYC, with at least five reported in March alone. Many of these cases are being investigated as potential bias crimes, raising concerns among Tesla owners.
Disturbing Acts of Vandalism
One particularly disturbing incident involved a Tesla Cybertruck, which was targeted early Thursday morning. Surveillance video from the truck's "Sentry Mode" captured two individuals spraying swastikas and carving the word "Nazis" into the vehicle. The incident took place on Monroe Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Another Tesla owner, Avraham Ben Hamo, reported his car vandalized near Prospect Park. He emphasized that his reason for owning a Tesla was solely his appreciation for the vehicle itself, irrespective of Elon Musk's public image. "The fact that the guy doesn't like Elon Musk doesn't give him the right to go ahead and do swastikas on my car," he stated.
Connecting the Dots: Politics and Tesla?
The recent surge in Tesla vandalism coincides with increasing political tensions surrounding Elon Musk. Following President Trump's appointment of Musk as an advisor, protests have emerged across the Tri-State area, expressing frustration with Musk's political activities. Some Tesla owners fear their vehicles are becoming targets due to their association with Musk.
"I don't support his politics, and I got this car way before we got to that point," shared Tesla owner Mickelle Damassia, reflecting the anxieties of many Tesla drivers.
The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is actively investigating these incidents, and Tesla owners remain apprehensive about potential future attacks.
