New York City is officially back! A recent report reveals that NYC welcomed approximately 64.3 million travelers in 2024, making it the most-visited large city in the U.S. This represents a remarkable 97% recovery from its pre-pandemic peak in 2019.

The majority of visitors were domestic travelers, with significant numbers arriving from Philadelphia, D.C., Boston, and Los Angeles. International travel also saw a surge, with the U.K. leading the way with 1.1 million visitors.
Economic Impact
This tourism boom had a massive economic impact, generating an estimated $79 billion for the city and state economies. This includes over $51 billion in direct spending, supporting more than 388,000 jobs in the leisure and hospitality sectors and generating over $6.8 billion in tax revenue.
