# Florida Man Charged with Plotting to Bomb the New York Stock Exchange

A Florida man, **Harun Abdul-Malik Yener**, has been arrested and charged with plotting a bomb attack on the **New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)**.  The alleged plot, which targeted the week before Thanksgiving, involved bomb-making supplies, online bomb-building research, and a chilling statement where Yener reportedly compared himself to Osama Bin Laden.

## The FBI Investigation

The FBI's investigation began in February after a tip revealed bomb-making materials stored in Yener's unlocked storage unit.  Authorities discovered **bomb-making sketches, timers, circuit boards, and other electronics** during a search of the facility in Coral Springs, Florida.  

Yener allegedly told an undercover agent that the attack would be "hella easy" and described the potential devastation as being "like a small nuke went off". He planned to wear a disguise and release a recorded message after the attack.

## Yener's Motivation and Background

Investigators believe Yener's motive was to cause a "reboot" or "reset" of the US government.  He reportedly maintained a YouTube channel with videos on making explosives from household items.  Court documents indicate that Yener is homeless.

Yener appeared in court on Wednesday and is currently being held while awaiting trial.

This arrest comes on the heels of several recent national security incidents, including the arrests of an individual allegedly planning an attack to coincide with Election Day and a man accused of plotting to murder US officials on behalf of Iran.


The Florida resident allegedly planned the attack around the Thanksgiving holiday next week.

# NYC Tourist Stabbed in Swanky Upper West Side

A 55-year-old tourist was slashed in the face on the Upper West Side of New York City on Wednesday morning in what police described as a seemingly random attack.  The victim's left ear and left cheek were injured, and he was taken to a local hospital.

The suspect fled the scene and is still at large.  Police are investigating and reviewing surveillance footage showing the suspect running away with a knife.

## Recent Violence in NYC

This incident comes just days after a separate stabbing spree left three people dead.  51-year-old Ramon Rivera, a career criminal with eight prior arrests, was arrested and charged in connection with that attack.  Rivera had been released from jail shortly before the killings.

## DA Bragg Under Fire

The recent violence has renewed criticism of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his approach to crime.  Former NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelly criticized Bragg's policies on "Fox & Friends," citing fare-beating as a significant issue exacerbated by Bragg’s policies.

The recent stabbings also occur amidst the ongoing trial of Daniel Penny, a Marine veteran facing manslaughter charges for placing Jordan Neely, a homeless subway performer, in a fatal chokehold.  This trial continues to raise discussions about self-defense, vigilante justice, and subway safety.

Tisch, formerly the Sanitation Commissioner, emphasized her commitment to practical solutions, stating, "I care less about the palace intrigue and more about the substance of the work." # Soho Landmark Destroyed in Devastating Fire

A two-alarm fire ripped through a historic 13-story building in SoHo on Wednesday afternoon, sending thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.  The blaze, which broke out around 2:52 p.m. at 451 Broome St.,  quickly escalated, prompting a significant response from the FDNY.

Acting Deputy Chief Jared Garitano described the scene upon arrival as a "heavy fire condition." Despite the intensity, firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control by approximately 4:30 p.m., preventing further spread. Drones were deployed to assist with aerial observation of the damage to the wooden roof, which required "extensive overhauling."

Thankfully, **no injuries were reported.**

## Historic Building Severely Damaged

The building, constructed in 1896, holds landmark status and is described as a "late 19th-century extravaganza in stone, brick, terra cotta and iron."  Inspectors from the NYC Department of Buildings responded to assess the damage.

## Aftermath and Investigation

The fire caused significant traffic delays and road closures in Lower Manhattan, with officials urging New Yorkers to seek alternative routes.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

# Homeless Man Arrested for Alleged Plot to Bomb NYSE

A homeless Florida man, **Harun Abdul-Malik Yener**, was arrested and charged with plotting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange.  According to a criminal complaint, Yener aimed to force a "reboot" or "reset" of the U.S. government.

The FBI's investigation began in February after a tip revealed bomb-making schematics stored in Yener's storage unit.  Agents found drawings of explosives and other IED components.  Yener claimed he was creating "rockets" and had been recruited by ISIS but ultimately chose not to join.

He told agents he was awaiting the opportune moment to act within the U.S.  Undercover agents later engaged Yener, eventually persuading him to target the NYSE.  He purchased materials at a Walmart to construct an IED.

Yener allegedly stated that the stock exchange would be an ideal target due to the substantial public impact it would have, hoping to inspire support for his actions. He planned to bomb the NYSE the week before Thanksgiving and send a statement to a news station detailing his motives.

On November 12, he recorded audio messages intended for NBC News. He envisioned the bombing as the start of a "new era, a new revolution," urging others to "follow suit." Yener was charged with attempted use of an explosive to damage a building used in interstate commerce.

# NYC Rent Prices are Dropping!

While rent in NYC has skyrocketed since the pandemic, reaching a median of $3,676 for a one-bedroom apartment, there's some good news!  According to StreetEasy, five neighborhoods are experiencing rent decreases.

## 5 NYC Neighborhoods with Falling Rents:

These areas are seeing a surprising dip in asking prices:

1. **Prospect Lefferts Gardens (Brooklyn):**  A 5% year-over-year decrease!
2. **Bay Ridge (Brooklyn):**  A 4.2% year-over-year decrease.
3. **Midtown Manhattan:**  Significant decrease (exact percentage not specified)
4. **Upper East Side:**  Significant decrease (exact percentage not specified)
5. **Hamilton Heights:** A 1.8% drop compared to last year.

This downturn is likely due to high prices dampening demand, particularly in Brooklyn and Manhattan.  These boroughs have been the most saturated rental markets in recent years.

## Where Rents are STILL Rising:

In contrast, Queens has seen the biggest rent increases, with neighborhoods like Forest Hills, Jamaica, Astoria, Long Island City, and Woodside being particularly in-demand.

Other areas with the fastest rent growth include the West Village, Forest Hills, Soho, Flatiron, and Dumbo.

## Best Time to Find a Deal?

StreetEasy suggests that colder months typically see less competition among renters, potentially making it a great time to score a deal, especially in those five neighborhoods with falling rents.

# SoHo Rooftop Fire: Smoke Visible Across NYC

A fire erupted on the rooftop of a Manhattan building at Broadway and Broome Street in SoHo around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.  The FDNY responded quickly, and the flames were extinguished around 4 p.m.

**Dramatic smoke plumes** were visible across the city skyline, prompting the FDNY to advise people to avoid the area and expect travel delays.

Acting Deputy Chief Jarrod Garritano praised the firefighters' swift action, noting the use of drones to assess the situation.  Thankfully, **no injuries were reported**.
