Where to Watch the Ball Drop
Times Square, located between the Port Authority Bus Terminal and Rockefeller Center, is the heart of the action. The iconic ball descends from atop One Times Square (formerly the Times Tower). Optimal viewing spots include Broadway (43rd to 50th Streets) and Seventh Avenue (as far north as 59th Street).
Spectator checkpoints will be in place at 49th, 52nd, and 56th Streets on Sixth and Eighth Avenues. Plan your arrival using public transport; the MTA will have extra service on several lines.

The ball drops at midnight E.T.! The 60-second countdown begins at 11:59 p.m., followed by a spectacular confetti shower. Spectator entrances open at 3 p.m., with the ball lit and lifted into place at 6 p.m.
Avoiding Traffic
Expect significant traffic congestion in Manhattan. Public transportation is highly recommended. Street closures will be in effect around Times Square from 4 a.m.
