Giuliani Settles Defamation Lawsuit, Keeping His Properties
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has reached a settlement with two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, resolving a dispute over the ownership of his Florida condo and World Series rings. This settlement avoids a bench trial that was scheduled to determine whether Giuliani would have to forfeit these assets as part of a $148 million defamation judgment against him.
Giuliani's attorney, Joseph Cammarata, confirmed that Giuliani will retain his New York co-op, Florida condominium, and all his personal belongings. Giuliani himself issued a statement on social media, emphasizing that the resolution doesn't involve admitting liability and expressing relief at keeping his properties. Freeman and Moss also released a statement, stating that the agreement allows Giuliani to keep his property in exchange for compensation and a promise to refrain from future defamation.
Recent Legal Troubles
This settlement comes after Giuliani was recently held in contempt of court for failing to disclose asset information. He was also found in contempt in a Washington D.C. court for continuing to slander the election workers.
Giuliani's son, Andrew Giuliani, expressed pride in his father's resolution outside the courthouse.
