A young man tragically lost his life on Sunday after falling from a fire escape near the route of the New York City Marathon, authorities reported. The incident occurred around 12:35 p.m. at a three-story apartment building on S 6th St. near Bedford Ave. in Williamsburg.

Police responded to a 911 call and found the 24-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive on the ground with injuries consistent with a fall from a height. Medics rushed him to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
