Pistons Take the Subway to Barclays Center After NYC Marathon Chaos

The Detroit Pistons weren't letting the New York City Marathon disrupt their game against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon. After facing gridlock and road closures caused by the marathon, the team took a unique route: the 3 train to the Barclays Center.

The team, who played the Knicks on Friday, likely stayed at a hotel near Madison Square Garden but their commute appears to have begun at Clark Street in Brooklyn Heights. With the marathon still going on in the early afternoon, the team was unable to drive to their 3:30 p.m. tip-off.

In a series of tweets, the Pistons shared their journey, documenting their time on the subway with a video featuring players like Malik Beasley, Isaiah Stewart, Tobias Harris, Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey alongside everyday straphangers.

Despite the unconventional travel, the Pistons were able to defeat the Nets 106-92, improving their record to 2-5 and dropping the Nets to 3-4.

It's unclear what mode of transportation the team took after the game, but one thing is for sure: the Pistons are embracing the city's hustle and proving that even a marathon can't stop them from getting to the game.
