NYC Welcomes New NYPD Commissioner: Jessica Tisch

Jessica Tisch, currently the city's Sanitation Commissioner, has been appointed as the next NYPD Commissioner by Mayor Eric Adams. This marks a significant moment, making Tisch only the second woman to lead the NYPD in its 179-year history.

Mayor Adams praised Tisch's leadership and experience, highlighting her success with the DSNY's "Trash Revolution" initiative, which reportedly reduced curbside trash by 70%. Tisch's background also includes a long career in city government, including a stint as the city's Chief Information Officer and previous roles within the NYPD itself.
