The Anne Frank House Museum in Amsterdam is bringing a piece of history to New York City with a full-scale replica of Anne Frank's secret annex. This immersive exhibition, titled "Anne Frank The Exhibition," will transport visitors to the very space where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazi occupiers during World War II.

A Pioneering Experience

"For the first time in history, the Anne Frank House will present what I would call a pioneering experience outside of Amsterdam," said Anne Frank House director Ronald Leopold. The exhibition will recreate the secret annex meticulously, allowing visitors to experience the cramped conditions and daily challenges faced by the Frank family and others who joined them in hiding.

More Than a Victim

The exhibition goes beyond simply showcasing the annex, aiming to highlight Anne Frank as a multifaceted individual: a teenage girl, a writer, and a symbol of resilience and strength. Visitors will also learn about the Frank family's history, from their early lives to Otto Frank's decision to share Anne's diary after the war.

A Powerful Reminder

The exhibition opens on January 27th, the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It will be housed at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan. Anne Frank's story, captured in her diary, continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. The exhibit serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of remembering and learning from the past.
