# NYC Snow Alert! First 2025 Snowfall Possible This Monday?

**A winter storm is rolling into NYC this Monday, bringing with it the possibility of the city's first snowfall of 2025.**  Light snow is anticipated later in the morning and into the afternoon, mainly impacting New Jersey, NYC, and Long Island.

## Polar Vortex Brings Extreme Cold

This snowy weather follows a **polar vortex**, which is bringing a blast of **extreme cold** to the region. Temperatures are expected to plummet, making this the coldest period of the season so far.  This frigid air mass is predicted to linger for several weeks, potentially lasting until the end of January. This could be the East Coast's first colder-than-average January since 2022, and possibly the coldest since 2014 or 2011.
