NYC Winter Storm Warning: Snow and Freezing Temperatures Ahead!

New York City is expected to experience a significant drop in temperature, with snow on the way and a polar vortex looming.

Snowfall Forecast

According to the National Weather Service, there's a 30% chance of snow showers starting Thursday afternoon. The snow is predicted to hit NYC around 7 p.m. and end between 11 p.m. and midnight. While snowfall accumulation is expected to be light (a coating to an inch), it's enough to impact the evening commute.

FOX 5 NY's Mike Woods stated, "We'll probably get into the evening commute without the snow, but then it kicks in for a short period of time. We're talking two, maybe three hours of light to moderate snow."

Similar conditions are anticipated for parts of New Jersey.

Polar Vortex Alert: Sub-Zero Temperatures Next Week!

A polar vortex is expected to bring significantly colder temperatures to the Tri-State area next week. The FOX Forecast Center predicts temperatures to plummet as much as 45 degrees below average. Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast to be around 20 and 22 degrees respectively. This cold snap could make January 2025 one of the coldest in years for the eastern U.S.
